The purpose of a hard-wired outside broadcast cable installation is to enable television outside broadcast units to televise live football matches from sporting arenas without the need to pre-rig cables, enhances venue safety and provides a level of reliability that meets UK and international broadcast performance standards.
This has significant benefits to OB operators, enabling them to cover more commitments in a markedly shorter timeframe and move more quickly between venues and events, delivering significant savings in time, money and resources. Considerable advantages in areas such as venue safety are also achieved.
The installations comprise specialised cabling (power, data, fibre optics, specialist broadcast) hard-wired from the OB truck compound to key camera and audio connection points within the venue to enable Broadcasters to cover an event without the need to pre-rig cables.
Our expertise covers all aspects of the process ranging from the initial system design, through the detailed route planning and technical specifications to the practical onsite installation of ductwork, containment, cabling, termination and commissioning.
Our dedicated in-house project managers produce technical drawings and documentation not only for operational but also compliance and legal purposes. Our project managers attend site to lead the team on installation projects. All our project managers and engineers are vastly experienced in these installations and working in sports venues, whether it is in the construction phase, or a ‘live’ venue.
In addition to an experienced team of engineers, we access a pool of regular freelance and contract labour, all of whom work regularly with us and are experienced in our methods, quality standards and values. Ours is very much a team ethos, in which everyone understands their vital role and takes pride in the delivery of a high-performance system.
The resulting improvements in quality, reliability and consistency deliver greater production opportunities to TV producers, as well as enhancing the perceived profile of major events on television.
