ARC broadcast cable project
In 2018 TTL Video won a contract to carry out a programme of upgrade and maintenance work for Arena Racing Company (ARC). This involved both the installation of new cabling and the maintenance and upgrading of existing installations at 16 UK horse racecourses.
The requirement was for the installation of both copper and fibre optic cables within the stands, technical areas and extending to the remote camera locations. TTL Video was able to advise on and purchase the correct cable to use in each environment and utilise its buying power for specialist broadcast cables to allow the work to progress efficiently. We were aware from the outset that the ability to respond quickly and work flexibly within the schedule of racing fixtures would be essential for the successful completion of the project. Our experience of carrying out installations at similar venues and owning specialist ground working equipment allowed us to quickly assess the works required and implement the agreed solutions on schedule.
TTL Video owns and operates a vibrating mole plough that allows us to install suitable cables where there is no permanent cable route. This is especially useful at our racecourse installations where remote camera positions are located at the far end of the race-track, a significant distance from the main infrastructure of the course. This method of installation allows us to install long-length cables from the MCR location to the remote positions. We have installed cables of 1,500m at Ripon racecourse and 1,600m at Doncaster Racecourse.
